The House Is Spectacular
Anton and Dan completed our house in 2020. They kept us fully appraised of budget at all times, contractors were top notch with few delays, village approvals went smoothly, and the house is spectacular. The team was highly indulgent and enthusiastic about unusual features, while also making great suggestions to get better results at much lower costs that what I had anticipated. Anything that was not perfect was made perfect, even stuff that didn’t bubble up until three years later has been handled with the highest level of service. Highly recommended.
Very professional
Cypress Hill Development provided excellent service, guidance, design tips and follow through, in the process of building our new home. The staff was very professional and supported us throughout the entire construction process. They helped us through the design and budgeting phases, and continually gave us alternatives throughout the construction phase. The construction phase was an interactive exchange and as an owner you could be as involved as much as you wanted to be. The project closeout and permitting was well executed, with all open items being handled to our satisfaction. The house was completed on time and within budget and we are very pleased with the final product. We were very pleased with the services offered by “Cypress Hill Development Team” and strongly recommend them and their services.
The right team to build our home
We chose to work with Cypress Hill over four other local builders. Dan’s confidence in his product and calm demeanor throughout the interview process gave us the assurance that Cypress Hill was the right team to build our home. Dan and Todd worked tremendously throughout the process to prove that decision right. They did an excellent job of completing the job on time and within budget, both of which were very important to us. As a manager, Dan would always look to under promise and over deliver. I appreciated that very much. He also did a great job of communicating with us, especially as the project progressed through the final phases. Todd was an excellent project manager, he added many great suggestions on the layout, fixtures and accent touches that we never would have thought of on our own. We are very proud of the house Dan, Todd and the rest of the Cypress Hill team built for us.
Absolutely stunning home
We reached out to Dan after we had driven by another one of his homes in the area. The entire process from assisting us in finding a lot, creating our plans to assisting in some of the finishing choices was a great experience. Both Dan and Todd were top notch when it came to communication and helping to keep us within our budget and still creating us the beautiful home we desired. Dan and his team at Cypress Hill Development built a new home for me and I could not be happier with the process and the result. The quality of the construction at every point was superb. Dan is incredibly knowledgeable, creative, personable and enthusiastic. His background in finance and accounting also comes into play because managing the budget and costs is a challenge. I came into the process knowing virtually nothing; Dan took the time to educate me. He helped me use my limited funds in the most effective manner. He understands the needs of families, but also has an excellent sense of how to put lasting value in a home. His sense of design is flawless — you won’t need an interior designer. I enjoyed the process of building the home immensely. My immediate family was so impressed they are now having Cypress Hill build a home for them. I enthusiastically recommend Cypress Hill. An unbelievable amount of help
We can’t say enough good things about Dan. He’s been an unbelievable amount of help to us, and we take that very personally — he’s genuinely a very honest person, and he and his brother expect that out of his subcontractors as well.
We met Dan when he had an open house… [and] our jaws hit the ground. We’ve gone through a lot of houses open to the public, and you’d find screws still out of the ground, nails, whatever. When we went into Dan’s house, we couldn’t see a thing we could criticize. It was beautiful! When we finally contacted Dan, we thought we’d be way out of his league; but we weren’t. Dan will talk to anyone, and he works within the budget you have to make it fly. He could have pocketed money on us, and he didn’t. He just gave us more.
Quality workmanship
We had heard many horror stories about home construction and had prepared ourselves for a challenge. Our building experience could not have been more painless, though, or gone any smoother than it did! As a civil engineer I wish all of my construction projects could run this smoothly. We felt like Dan gave us as much choice and input into decisions as we wanted, while always keeping us on track with the construction’s critical path. We really feel like Dan listened to us and that we received the best value our money could buy. To this day when we show our home to guests they always rant and rave about how great it looks. Even my dad’s best friend — who is a homebuilder by trade — was impressed by the quality workmanship.
Exceeded Our Expectations
After speaking to 4 contractors about our project, we hired Anton at Cypress Hill to remodel 2 bathrooms, and we are so glad we did. Anton is a great listener and communicator, and he took the time to understand our vision for the space and provided flexible options for our budget. He also has a great eye for design elements, and he made some helpful suggestions that really added to the overall look and function of the bathrooms.
Anton also works with a team of highly skilled subcontractors, and everyone was professional, courteous, and respectful of my home. They also cleaned up after themselves every day, which was a huge plus. The bathroom remodels were completed on time and within budget, and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. Cypress Hill exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled contractor.
Built with the highest quality
We hired Cypress Hill to build us a new custom 4BR home in Downers Grove. We could not be happier with them. They held our hands through the whole process, guiding us when needed, being patient when needed, helping us stay in budget when needed, and so on. As with any large project, there were some issues. Cypress Hill worked through the issues we encountered to our complete satisfaction… something you hear other companies often don’t do. The home was built with the highest quality, bar none. That quality was verified by multiple 3rd party experts and could be seen throughout the construction in the way things were done (the right way, not the fast way). We highly recommend Cypress Hill.

We hadn’t seriously considered a custom built home until we drove past another Cypress Hill project and set up an initial meeting. Dan was extremely professional and helped us realize that it was possible to build our dream home within our budget. We appreciated that he was very organized with a project plan and timeline from which to execute the project and had a straightforward and honest approach. Dan assisted us throughout the process, starting with helping us find a great lot, facilitating the design phase, and overseeing the construction of our beautiful home. Guests have commented on the high quality and attention to detail. The service we received from the Cypress Hill team has been exceptional throughout and following the construction process. They did not disappoint
Everyone warned us about the issues that typically come with building a new house, but Dan and his whole crew at Cypress Hill Development were true partners during the whole process. They were always fair and worked hard to quickly resolve anything that popped up. Attention to detail is what drew us to Cypress Hill in the first place… and they did not disappoint. Everything from the framing to the rough-in to the final finishes were completed and inspected, and sometimes re-done without question to meet his and our standards. If for some reason we ever build another house in the area, we would definitely choose Cypress Hill Development again.

Given the enormous task and investment of building a house, and the already busy life that my wife and I led in the city, we were both apprehensive of being overwhelmed by the process and being taken advantage of by a builder. Our apprehension was only heightened during our due diligence process with various builders in the Downers Grove and surrounding areas. However, this worry was put to rest as Dan conducted our entire home building process with a transparency, efficiency and organizational level that was first class and befitting of the many professionals I deal with on a daily basis.
